Carmen & Bolero (Expired)

Image Gallery

For the first time in Athens, flamenco meets Bizet’s “Carmen” and Ravel’s “Bolero” at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. The show, on Sunday September 15, is sure to dazzle with some of the brightest stars in the business, as the Compañía Antonio Gades paints a new picture of Carmen. Let her show you that “she never was an evil woman in her life nor was she a murderer of man; but an honest, free and outspoken woman who was brave enough to confess her falling in and out of love.”

The renowned dancer, choreographer and first artistic director of the “Ballet Nacional de Espana” sought to preserve and carry on the cultural heritage of his country in this moving piece, which features the artistic direction of Stella Arauzo and award-winning Spanish dancer Sergio Bernal. Carlos Saura will be directing the performance, choreography, lighting and adaptation of the original production which premiered in Paris over 30 years ago.

Sergio Bernal, winner of the 2012 Leonide Massine prize designating the world’s best dancer, brings to life the choreography of P. Puzo and music of Bolero in a unique dance recital filled with passion and skill.
