Martin Kippenberger: A Cry for Freedom (Expired)

Image Gallery

“Lived long, died fast”. This contradictory motto perfectly describes the unconventional and undeniably genius German artist Martin Kippenberger. His work is currently being showcased in the Museum of Cycladic Art in an exhibition entitled “A Cry for Freedom.”

The exhibition includes 23 Kippenberger pieces from the Daskalopoulos and Kippenberger Estate collections. The artist’s works introduce us to a man who lived to push limits. This is captured perfectly in a single sentence: “The only rule is that there is no rule.” This mantra highlighted his need for freedom of thought, which is shown clearly in all of his works.
