One Hundred Gipsy Violins (Expired)

Image Gallery

54 violins, 10 violas, 10 cellos, 10 bass, 10 clarinets, 6 cymbals and 100 amazing virtuosos bring the soul of the gypsy people to life at the Badminton Theatre.

After sold out performances in 2008 and 2009, the Budapest Gypsy Symphony Orchestra returns to Athens for a performance featuring traditional gypsy music combined with classical masterpieces. These fine Hungarian gypsy musicians accompany the orchestra directed by József Lendvai Csócsi, which includes the world’s greatest cymbalist, Oszkár Ökrös.

The program combines the spirit of a spontaneous gypsy celebration with absolute synchronization, and includes music by Béla Radics, Grigoraş Ionică Dinicu, Ferenc Erkel and Vittorio Monti, as well as Johannes Brahms, Georges Bizet, Frantz Liszt, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Jacques Offenbach, Pablo de Sarasate and Johann Strauss. Every note of this one-of-a-kind concert evokes the pure, heart-wrenching emotion of authentic Gypsy music.
