Andro Wekua: Pink Wave Hunter(Expired)

Image Gallery

A series of sculptural representations of buildings from the town of Sukhumi, Georgia are currently being featured in an exhibit at the Benaki Museum.

The works are inspired by memories from the artist’s childhood, when warfare in Abkhazia forced him and his family to abandon the city in the early 1990s. Based on his personal experience and supported by evidence uncovered through research, Wekua created these sculptures as a representation of his birthplace.

The exhibit is being held in cooperation with the Foundation for Contemporary Art, which aims to promote new artists and contemporary artistic practices.
