Cinema Paradiso Project Live(Expired)

Cinema Paradiso Project, a multi-member musical ensemble, continues to set itself apart with sublime selections. See them live, performing for the first time on the Gazarte stage just before the release of their first big album.

This musical journey through the big screen begins with Wim Mertens’ “Struggle for Pleasure” and replaces the saxophone with string instruments and an electric guitar. This is followed by soundtracks by Ennio Morricone, including “Nella Fantasia” and the album’s namesake “Cinema Paradiso”, which exemplify the group’s classical crossover aesthetics, skilfully moving between Ástor Piazzolla, Madredeus and Tom Waits.

Some of the greatest moments in cinema, adaptations of music that has captivated us all, powerful moments, like when Rita Hayworth sang “Amado Mio” as Gilda or when Liza Minnelli became a dancer in Cabaret, all come to life on the Gazarte stage.

Shortly before the end, the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice in “Manhã de Carnaval” will carry you away with its bossa nova rhythm, and the evening’s emotions peak with Radiohead’s soundtrack for the film adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.
