Worship: Dimitris Kontos

Image Gallery

Sketches, models, engravings, archive material and the Worship module, all constituting a running commentary on the political and social reality of Greece in the mid-1970s. Including over 200 works by Dimitris Kontos (1931-1996), the exhibition is being held at the Byzantine and Christian Museum.

The display would not be complete without the fantastic architectural models of churches, individual studies on religious themes and iconographic types. The exhibition also presents 84 oblations from the museum’s rich collection, which – combined with the artist’s objects of Worship – highlight his relationship with the Byzantine and post-Byzantine artistic tradition.
