Crete’s Culture Comes to the Heart of Athens

Image Gallery

Music and dance performances, art exhibitions, movie screenings, shows, talks, workshops and special tributes to the greats of Cretan culture come to Athens this summer during Festivalaki, the Cretan Festival of Arts and Culture to be held at Technopolis. Vasilis Stavrakakis, Antonis Martsakis, Giorgos Manolakis, Zacharias Spyridakis and the band Giala join together to host the grand event which showcases over 150 artists that share their work and passion with the Greek public. Attendees can take part in cultural activities inspired by Crete, the island of gallantry, and can even present their own pictures at the festival’s photography exhibition. This year’s exhibition highlights the mountainous region of Crete, and selected photographs will be paired with a series of mantinades (short rhyming couplets) serenading the full September moon.

Be prepared for an amazing tribute to Domenikos Theotokopoulos, Nikos Kazantzakis, Erotokritos and Nikos Xilouris, alongside dozens of parallel activities including dancing, popular arts, Cretan cuisine and lots more…
