The Berlin Philharmonic and Leonidas KavakosThe Berlin Philharmonic and Leonidas Kavakos

The Berlin Philharmonic will be joining forces with soloist Leonidas Kavakos, who came to international prominence with his performance of Sibelius’ Violin Concerto, in its Annual European Concert to be held at the Athens Concert Hall. The orchestra will be led by the baton of its principal conductor, Sir Simon Rattle.

The Berlin Philharmonic’s Annual European Concert is a landmark cultural event held every 1st of May in a different European city which aims to spread the European idea. This is the second time a Greek city has had the honour.

The selection of the host countries is based either on the historical importance of the buildings or the goal of honouring great venues associated with outstanding cultural achievements.

Leonidas Kavakos will be performing works by Gioachino Rossini, Jean Sibelius and Robert Schumann.
