Voyage to Greece in the 60s (Expired)

Image Gallery

Discover a forgotten side of Greece through 48 original black-and-white photographs taken and developed by the great British photographer, Wolf Suschitzky. The exhibition is being held by the Benaki Museum at the N. Hadjikyriakos-Ghika Gallery.

The exhibition focuses on many images of Skiathos that present known and unknown faces of the island, scenes of celebrations and weddings, and of everyday rural life. There are also photographs of Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika, taken at his mansion, as well as photographs of the painter, John Craxton, whom Suschitzky met here.

The exhibition concludes with the sun-washed landscapes of the Acropolis and the short film, Michalis of Skiathos, directed by John Ingram, which was the very reason why the famous photographer visited and toured the island.
