Strange Cities: Athens

How would someone who has never been to Athens portray the city?

The Onassis Foundation and its Cultural Centre, inspired by their love of Athens and the desire to better know the city, have asked 23 artists from around the world, who have never visited Athens, to show us how they imagine it through one of their works. The artists tapped their inner creativity, guided only by a box containing George Seferis’ poem, Jasmine, two chapters of Petros Markaris’ book, I Athina Τis Mias Diadromis [One Way Through Athens], Manos Hadjidakis’ song, Mia poli magiki [A magical city], the musical piece 2 by K.Bhta, a stuffed tomato and peppers recipe and twelve files with the city’s sounds.

The works created and exhibited at the Diplareios School include paintings, photographs, designs and new technologies.
