“Identity” – national, social and sexual – is the theme that Korean playwright Young Jean Lee explores in this play. Through her work, she openly questions and challenges the dominant values of contemporary neoliberal societies.

The director and playwright will be coming to Greece for the first time as a guest of the Athens Festival to present Straight White Men, itself a distant echo of Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman. In it, she focuses on the male stereotype of western societies: that of the “straight, white man”.

To begin, we are presented with a typical modern-day American family: a father and his three sons in a conventional setting with a decorated Christmas tree in the background.
