August’s Full Moon

Many of Attica’s archaeological sites and museums are preparing something special for the full moon this year.

On Sunday August 10, museums and archaeological sites will remain open with free admission from early morning and into the night, so that visitors can observe the full moon. As this tradition gains popularity every year, the number of participating sites increases, too! Come take part in the truly mesmerizing event!

Apart from the splendid view of the moon, you can also enjoy concerts, shows, movie nights and archaeological tours!

Events in Athens

The Acropolis Museum will remain open from 8:00 A.M. until midnight with free entrance. Explore the museum’s exhibitions or participate in the musical events that will be held in the courtyard all while enjoying the view of the Acropolis bathed in the light of the full moon.

  • In the heart of Athens, on Panepistimiou Street, the Numismatic Museum will open its doors to the public free of charge with a tour from 18:30-20:30, followed by live music in the garden.
  • The National Archaeological Museum will be open to the public from 18:30 until midnight with free admission.

The Archaeological Site of Eleusis

In collaboration with the municipality of Eleusis, the Archaeological Site of Eleusis has planned a number of musical and theatrical events.
