Aiolou Street

Image Gallery

Three glass pyramids, constructed for the Athens Olympic Games in 2004, mark this historical site on Aiolou Street, so-named after Aeolus, god of winds in Greek mythology.

Displayed beneath the glass is a scale model of the city’s ancient fortifications that were initially uncovered here during the 1970s.

This remarkable view of history was made possible through a special programme to foster the preservation of archaeological sites.
