The Hellenic Wildlife Hospital (EKPAZ), located 10 kilometers from the city of Aegina, beyond Pachia Rahi, treats more than 3,500 injured or abused wild animals each year.

Opened in 1984, EKPAZ was the first centre of its type in the Balkans and has been a non-profit organisation since 1990. More than half of the animals here are released back into their natural habitat after they have been treated, making EKPAZ’s efforts especially crucial for the preservation of Europe’s endangered species.

The centre also offers vital information to the public about wildlife protection.
