Airport Archaeological Collection

Image Gallery

This exhibition at Athens International Airport showcases a small but impressive sample of finds from the area. Inaugurated in 2003, the collection contains 172 items from the Neolithic era to the post-Byzantine period. Particularly important are the findings from a prehistoric fortified settlement on Zagani Hill. Stone tools, coarse pottery and a model of the ancient village give visitors a brief but accurate picture of the period.

Pottery from the Geometric period and additional finds from the height of the Athenian Republic are also displayed here.
